It’s go-time. The 2025 Age Group Online Semifinals are barreling toward me—April 3rd-6th, five or six virtual events, one brutal weekend. This is my next checkpoint on the road to a sixth CrossFit Games title, and I’m pumped to pull you into the action.

Let’s rewind to some past Semifinals throwdowns, then talk about how I’m gearing up to crush it this year—with a little help from Bolder Athlete and Thirdzy (code: jasonzzz), of course!

Flashback: Semifinals That Tested Me

The Masters Semifinals are no joke—think relentless pace and weights that make you earn every rep. Back in 2023, the 45-49 division hit us with Workout 1A: a descending row and shuttle run combo paired with double-unders. It was 1,000-meter row, 100 double-unders, 20 shuttle runs (25 feet down and back), then 750m-75-15, 500m-50-10, and 250m-25-5—all capped at 25 minutes. My lungs were on fire, but I powered through to a 5th-place finish in my division. That one was a mental grind as much as a physical one—keeping the shuttle runs going!!

Then there’s 2024’s Event 1—a snatch-and-row beast. It was 50-calorie row, 9 snatches at 145 pounds, 50-cal row, 6 snatches at 165, 50-cal row, and 3 snatches at 185—all in 20 minutes or less. The weights climbed fast, and by that final set, my grip was toast. Still, I locked in a 17th-place finish, proving I could hang in the middle of the pack even when the bar felt like it was fighting back. These workouts are why I love this game—they push you to find out what you’re really made of.

While neither of those workouts were in my favor - I pushed, I fought… and won the CrossFit Games both of those years.

Prepping with Bolder Athlete

So, how do I get ready for this year’s Semifinals chaos? I’m leaning hard into my Bolder Athlete program—crafted by yours truly to peak at the right moment. We’ve been grinding through the CrossFit Open, and now the dial’s turning up: heavier lifts, nastier volume, and intensity that’d scare off a lesser soul.

Squats are deep, muscle ups are flying, and I’m chasing that sweet spot where I’m Games-ready without breaking down. It’s about pushing limits while staying injury-free—because a healthy Jason is a dangerous Jason. :-)

Fueling the Fire

To keep this engine humming, I’m all about the details. Sleep’s non-negotiable—I’m sipping Thirdzy Rest and Recovery Collagen before bed (code: Jasonzzz for a discount—it’s the real deal). No foggy mornings, just solid Zs to recover from the beatdowns.

Nutrition’s on point too— 3000 cals a day plus Heart and Soil supplements (use Jasongrubb10 to save). Those grass-fed organ goodies keep me strong and sharp.

And recovery? I’m still hooked on sauna and cold plunges on on my recovery days—20 minutes of heat, 3 minutes of ice. It’s brutal, but it works.

Laughing Through the Madness

Here’s the kicker: I’m having a blast. Sure, my legs might curse me after a heavy squat day, but I’ll still crack a grin mid-workout—maybe channel my old poker days and bluff my way through the pain. Keeps the spirits high, and that’s half the battle when Semifinals hit.

Your Move: Get Bold

Semifinals are my proving ground, and I’m all in—training smart, recovering hard, and gunning for that Games spot. Your challenge? Take one step this week—lift a little heavier, rest a little deeper, or just start.

The best time was yesterday, but today’s a damn good second.

Stay bold,

Jason
