Consistency Over Perfection

I didn’t win six CrossFit Games titles because I hit every workout perfectly.

I didn’t PR every cycle.

I didn’t even want to train every day.

The truth?

There were mornings I hit snooze.

There were days I stared at the barbell and thought, not today.

There were entire weeks where my body (or my mind) felt broken.

But here’s the thing that mattered most:

I kept showing up.

My 11-Year Grind

Eleven years ago, I walked into my first CrossFit gym. I was out of shape, stiff, carrying more excuses than muscle. What kept me going wasn’t discipline in the glamorous sense. It wasn’t motivation—because motivation fades.

It was this: I refused to quit for good.

One missed day didn’t become a missed week.

One failed lift didn’t make me stop training.

One bad Open score didn’t end my season.

The days I came back—those added up. That’s how I went from a dad bod to standing on a podium.

The Lesson

Consistency isn’t about never missing. It’s about always returning.

Perfection is fragile—it shatters with one mistake.

Consistency is resilient—it bends, then resets.

And when you stack enough days of simply showing back up, the results compound in ways perfection never could.

Takeaways for You

  • 📌 Don’t make up missed workouts. Just move forward. The next rep, the next day, the next week.

  • 📌 Track streaks of effort, not streaks of PRs. Your body cares more about showing up than setting records.

  • 📌 Build tiny wins. Hydrate. Walk. Sleep. Those “small” habits hold your foundation together.

Closing Note

I’m not sharing this because I have it all figured out. I’m sharing it because I’ve failed more times than I can count—and still found a way to keep moving.

If you’ve had a week (or a season) where perfection slipped away, I get it. But don’t quit. Come back. That’s where the transformation lives.
